I have chosen my groups single camera drama because i am partcauly proud of it and feel that it is one of the better pieces of work that i have produced during my time at south downs. My role for this film was as sound man but i also took part in some editing and filming.

Evaluation of Tom and Jerry cartoon

I chose the Tom and Jerry cartoon when they had a truce with each other and the dog over the episode when Tom has dinner with a lady cat because I felt that it was funnier and the better episode to chose for editing sound to it.

For my sound effects Tom and Jerry cartoon I made a view recordings and added some sound effects through sites on the Internet. I recorded sounds like panting, breathing, footsteps, bangs and loud running. I got zzzs sound effects through the Internet as well as some fighting punches. The sound effects do go with the cartoon images but not amazingly well.

 I feel that I chose good recorded sound effects and chose good online sound effects for my Tom and Jerry cartoon. I also feel that I chose to record the Wright sounds that suited the cartoon. I am happy with my cartoon but there are many things I would do differently if I had a chance.  

 I would try to edit the sound to images better if I had a chance because I feel that it was one of my weak points during this assignment. I did feel that I chose some good sound effects.       

I am not to happy about my over all result but I feel that editing sound is a week point of mine that has improved during this assignment and that work for other assignments also got a bit in my way of producing a better sound effects video for this assignment. I will take the skills that I have learnt from this assignment on to future projects.

If I could do this assignment again then all I wish that would have been different would have been how long that we had to do it but I didn’t help that I was ill for part of this assignment so when I got back I was in a rush to finish my sound effects video. If I had got more time I feel that I would of produce a better piece of work but I am still happy because editing sound is a week point of mine that I feel has improved a lot during this assignment.

My paper work for this assignment has been good and I feel that I was my stronger piece of work during this assignment.

Why do you think that we use SFXs in film and TV productions ?

I think we use SFXs in film and TV productions because sound effects adds to the realness of the film sometimes depending on the genre of the film or TV production. SFXs can sometimes hype things up to much but if used wright it can keep audiences interested.

What are the advntages of useing SFXs in TV and film productions? What do they add to the overall production?

The adventges of useing SFXs in film or TV productions is that if done wright it can really add to the production and add more importance to certain scenes of the film or TV program which will appeal to an audience.

What are the disadventages of useing SFXs in film or TV?

The disaventages of useing SFXs in TV is that it can be sometimes tacky but dose not often come out that way in films because films are usally of a higher quality.

What is the job description for a foley artist.

I first location that we filmed at was by a field on the outskirts of the college. We chose this for our loud out door area. The main problems that we had for this location was that it was very windy at the time which caused some of our films sound quality to go wrong and the weather gave us issues for filming. The equipment that we took was camera,tripod,boom pool and headphones.

The second location that we filmed at was in our class room with some of our class mates in at the time so we decided t make this our loud indoor area. We did not have as many problems in this area but found that other people in the class had there phones on which effected the sound quality of our film. It was also a bit hard to film with the chat that was going on in the background from the class but they were not that loud so it was not a massive issue. The equipment that we took was a camera, tripod, headphones and a boom pool.

Our last location that we filmed at for our outside quiet area was in a car with the windows open. The main problems that we had at this location was that it was very cramped in the car with the equipment. Over than that we did not have really any difficulty's  filming in that area. We took the same equipment that we took for the other two locations that we filmed at. We took a camera, tripod, boom pool and headphones.

If you dont plan hen problems can and most likely happen. The weather of the day when your filming on location could cause problems like the quality of the work your trying to get and also damage the equipment that your useing as well as the saftey of the crew thats filming.

why its important to plan before filming on location

Its important to make a plan before filming so you can get the best outcome that you can possibly get. Its also good to plan so you know when every one who is involved can make it to filming dates. You need to plan what weather conditions our going to be like on location if you are filming or getting audio because weather could effect sound quality as well as other things that could get in the way.
